CMS Websites

We can also offer a web designing service for those who think that their website is a little out of date and need updating. Or you just have HTML based site and would like to have something that's easier to update. At Eze Webdesign we can create a slick website for you at a minimum cost. A basic site would start at £200 and could be done in just 2 or 3 days (depending availability and ease of migration). We strongly recommend CMS site as they are much easier to update.

CMS (Content Management System) Explained

cms-exampleWith a CMS system owners of a website can amend the text, content and structure of the website themselves. This is done by logging in to the website online and with an administration interface can work away. It is almost like working in Microsoft Word and once you hit that save button the content is live. This system also allows you to have all sorts of fancy things happening on your site like newsflash, easy video and image uploads, google map integration and much more. Menu link are usually easily updated and the chance of having dead links on the site is reduced. Also site templates are always the same on each page (if you want it to be).

The image on the right is an example on how it looks like when you edit a CMS page. The toolbar has a simple, similar to MS Word layout and makes it easy to edit the content.

HTML Explained

html-codeIn comparison HTML has been around for a long time now and is considered outdated and cumbersome. The pages are written locally on your computer and then manually uploaded to a website. Since it is single files with no relation to any other page links would have to be created manually and updated. Therefore it is easy to get dead links on a HTML site. There is also not as much flexibility as HTML doesn’t really “do” anything apart displaying text and images. Each page template has to be look at and modified by its own.

Some website designers still use HTML, mostly because they either don’t have the skills to work with CMS or because they want to milk you for every little change.

The image to the left is an example of simple HTML code. Which you would have to touch up every now and again even if you have a good HTML editing application.
